Hackforge is pleased to introduce Shawn Daichendt as our new IT Outreach Coordinator. Shawn has been an active member of Hackforge for the past year. You might know him as the founder and host of StartUp Windsor, a group for entrepreneurs which meets monthly at Hackforge.
Shawn has worked as a software developer for eight years in a variety of business environments, from small mobile start ups to international development firms. He first got interested in IT while studying to be a paramedic; “the experience left me with wanting to use IT to help others.” He loves to learn and use bleeding-edge software tools and frameworks.
Interested in game studies and its application in society to solve today’s challenge problems, Shawn also loves music, pop culture, philosophy, alien conspiracies.
The IT Outreach Initiative helps non-profits access technology and employs up-and-coming tech workers in these small stipend projects. This is a project funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The baton for this project has been passed by Derek Richard who is now working full-time at Cypher Systems.
